Meet Dr Alan Brown. As an ophthalmologist, he strives to help people see better and as an inventor, his aim is to innovate state-of-the-art (medical) instruments. Brown’s personal and professional drive, mixed with a steep learning curve in entrepreneurship, recently led to the founding of the medical device company Surgilüm. Brown: ‘At Surgiūm, we aim to create cool, beautiful and intuitively functional instruments that stand out in the crowd. Conceptually and visually they have to present a clear-cut answer to current surgical frustrations. Their added value should be huge.
